    Design of pH Monitoring System for Koi Pond

    Koi fish farming has increased significantly and become a promising profession in Bantul, however the farmer faced many challenges to produce good Koi fish. Koi fish productivity affected by water quality as a result of good water treatment and filtering. pH is one of the main indicators for good water quality in Koi farming, whilst not many Koi farmer can afford to buy adequate equipment for their ponds. The purpose of this Community Service Program was to help and empower the community in increasing the koi fish farming productivity. The target group of this project was either groups or persons running micro-enterprises in Koi farming. The specific target of this project is to be able to provide and apply appropriate technology to the community. pH monitoring system was designed to provide cheap and appropriate tools applicable and available in the community. By making the design available for replication, the community can work together to procure goods/systems independently. Therefore, the system designed will not burden the community individually. The targeted koi fish farmers are expected to be role models for other farmers. The results of the manufacture of this precise technology-based tool have been completed with the results of the pH meter monitoring accuracy was higher than 98%. &nbsp

    Using a Combination of PID Control and Kalman Filter to Design of IoT-based Telepresence Self-balancing Robots during COVID-19 Pandemic

    COVID-19 is a very dangerous respiratory disease that can spread quickly through the air. Doctors, nurses, and medical personnel need protective clothing and are very careful in treating COVID-19 patients to avoid getting infected with the COVID-19 virus. Hence, a medical telepresence robot, which resembles a humanoid robot, is necessary to treat COVID-19 patients. The proposed self-balancing COVID-19 medical telepresence robot is a medical robot that handles COVID-19 patients, which resembles a stand-alone humanoid soccer robot with two wheels that can maneuver freely in hospital hallways. The proposed robot design has some control problems; it requires steady body positioning and is subjected to disturbance. A control method that functions to find the stability value such that the system response can reach the set-point is required to control the robot's stability and repel disturbances; this is known as disturbance rejection control. This study aimed to control the robot using a combination of Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) control and a Kalman filter. Mathematical equations were required to obtain a model of the robot's characteristics. The state-space model was derived from the self-balancing robot's mathematical equation. Since a PID control technique was used to keep the robot balanced, this state-space model was converted into a transfer function model. The second Ziegler-Nichols's rule oscillation method was used to tune the PID parameters. The values of the amplifier constants obtained were Kp=31.002, Ki=5.167, and Kd=125.992128. The robot was designed to be able to maintain its balance for more than one hour by using constant tuning, even when an external disturbance is applied to it. Doi: 10.28991/esj-2021-SP1-016 Full Text: PD

    PENERANGAN JALAN UMUM BERBASIS PEMBANGKIT LISTRIK TENAGA SURYA DI DESA SIDOHARJO KABUPATEN KULON PROGO

    Abstrak: Pemanfaatan Energi Baru Terbarukan (EBT) terutama tenaga surya di Indonesia memiliki potensi yang sangat besar. Kondisi geografis Desa Sidoharjo memiliki potensi untuk pengembangan Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Surya (PLTS). Perlu adanya perluasan PLTS di Desa Sidoharjo. Selain itu, masyarakat belum memahami pentingnya hemat energi dan pemanfaatan EBT. Program pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kesadaran dan pemahaman masyarakat mengenai EBT dan pemanfaatannya dengan bijak. Metode yang digunakan dalam program pengabdian yaitu survei, observasi, sosialisasi, penyuluhan, pelatihan, dan pembangunan PLTS penerangan jalan umum serta monitoring dan evaluasi. Mitra dalam program pengabdian ini adalah pemerintah Desa Sidoharjo. Program pengabdian diikuti oleh 21 peserta. Hasil pengabdian masyarakat di Desa Sidoharjo berjalan dengan lancar dan sukses. Instalasi PJUTS berfungsi dan dapat menerangi jalan umum. Hasil evaluasi penyuluhan penghematan energi, penggunaan, dan pemeliharaan PJUTS menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman masyarakat sebesar 61,9% terkait pentingnya menghemat energi dan penggunaan energi baru. Rata-rata masyarakat sangat setuju perlu adanya pengelolaan dan pemanfaatan energi menggunakan sumber energi dari sekitar lingkungan masyarakat.Abstract: The use of New and Renewable Energy (NRE), especially solar power in Indonesia, has enormous potential. The geographical condition of Sidoharjo Village has the potential for the development of Solar Power Plants (SPP). It is necessary to expand the SPP in Sidoharjo Village. In addition, people do not yet understand the importance of energy saving and the use of NRE. This community service program aims to increase public awareness and understanding of NRE and its wise use. The methods used in the service program are surveys, observations, socialization, counseling, training, and construction of public street lighting Solar Power Plants as well as monitoring and evaluation. The partner in this service program is the Sidoharjo Village government. The service program was attended by 21 participants. The results of community service in Sidoharjo Village went smoothly and successfully. Solar Public Street Lighting Installation works and can illuminate public roads. The results of the evaluation of energy-saving counseling, use, and maintenance of Solar Public Street Lighting showed an increase in public understanding by 61.9% regarding the importance of saving energy and using new energy. The average community strongly agrees that there is a need for energy management and utilization using energy sources from around the community
